Or should I say a TREAT for my cold. I'm feeling sniffly, sore-throaty and general miserable so my lovely daughter made me the perfect treat - Orange Sorbet - full of vitamin C and soothing on my throat.

Book Launch Recap
The official book launch for my new book Lick It! Creamy Dreamy Vegan Ice Creams Your Mouth Will Love was last Saturday at the Arroyo Grande Library. What I didn't realize when we set the date, that it was Memorial Day weekend and also the Strawberry Festival--Arroyo Grande's biggest festival of the year. Almost every friend, relative, neighbor, writing buddy, etc. I asked to come said they had other plans for the weekend and sorry, they wouldn't be able to make it. I had visions of making ice cream in the big empty library for just myself and my family and the library staff.

Smoothies Matching Outfits
It all started with a Facebook post from my sister Lissie saying that her smoothie matched her shirt. Well, the next day my daughter Emily made a smoothie after school and it perfectly matched her shirt (I hadn't told her about my sister's post or anything). Then this morning, my daughter Aimie made a smoothie for breakfast, it was the same color as her shirt. What's going on? Is there something in the universe causing this? I'm wearing a brown shirt today -- I better stay away from the blender!

Smoothies
Smoothies are an excellent snack for the whole family. They are quick to prepare and perfect at home or on the run to work or sports practice. Smoothies are also great for finicky eaters. If they won't eat their veggie--okay, put them in a smoothie. Need more protein or calcium in your diet? Add some tofu or nondairy yogurt for protein. It's always a good idea to get more iron and essential fatty acids so add raw nuts and seeds, or their oil or butter as well.
