alternative to plastic bottles

If you read my earlier post about the dangers of plastics and now you want to switch from those plastic baby bottles or water bottles, check out this site that I just found out about: http://www.glassforhealth.com/

I'm still on the lookout for stainless steel water bottles THAT DON'T LEAK for my kids to take to school - I found some aluminum ones but I'm not crazy about aluminum either - though I'm not sure if it's just founds heated in alumimum that cause problems or if water stored in them is bad too. Anyone know?

Do Klean-Kanteen's leak for you? That is what we use.

What about Sigg bottles? I've seen them online, as well as at Whole Foods.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've seen Sigg bottles around but was hesitant to try them because they are aluminum which I stay away from because if it's link to Aleziheimers. According to the link you posted through, ~m, it says they have been throughly tested for leaching - so maybe I'll give them a try. They're certainly easy to find.

Lizzyq - I'll check out the Klean-Kanteen.

I've tried a couple - a stainless steel one I found at a local health food store but it leaks. I also bought the stainless steel ones from www.laptoplunches.com and the leaked like crazy. I just was send replacements so I"ll report on how those worked out.

We use glass maple syrup bottles for water. We consume way too much organic maple syrup, so we have a ready supply of bottles! Water just tastes better in glass too. Granted, they aren't appropriate in all situations due to breakability, but we use them "most" of the time. BTW, I won't use aluminum either!

I use the Sigg bottle most of the time. I like the maple syrup bottle idea though. But isn't that pretty heavy?

Glass is okay for certain times but I don't want to send them with my kids to school or to the pool in the summer.

Laptop Lunches just sent me replacements for the stainless bottles I had bought from them that leaked. These seem to be fine so far.

Have you tried the bottles from Flylady? I got one and it doesn't leak or sweat or anything. Here's the link for it: http://www.flylady.net/pages/FlyShop_swb.asp

Mine is pretty light weight too, which is great.
